President Candidates
Tyler Beneke*

Hi!
I am Tyler Beneke and am majoring in Industrial Engineering. I have absolutely loved being the SWE outreach chair this past semester. We began a program that introduced a variety of engineering projects from all different disciplines to teens at the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club. Being able to make a difference in the lives of others has been an enriching and learning experience. I have held the position of secretary and social chair in my sorority, and know I would really enjoy the position of SWE president. Getting to know the current officers through meetings, volunteering events and regional conference has made me realize what a wonderful program SWE is, and I want to continue to be involved. I am so thankful for the friendships and relationships that I have developed through SWE in the past two years. I want to incorporate each and every member as our team has done in the past. I can't wait to see what the next year has in store!

Vice President Candidates
Jessica Montgomery*

My name is Jessica Montgomery and I am a sophomore Mechanical Engineering Honors student. This past year, I have participated in SWE as one of the Vice Presidents. I became involved in SWE my first semester as a freshman. The chapter here on campus means a lot to me. The organization in general embodies a lot of the values that I do. Women can be engineers, and that’s what we are proving. SWE is a society that is not limited to one gender but is rather one that supports all women in all disciplines of engineering. Having been in a leadership role, and by your graces taking up another one next year, I want to bring that point to light here on campus. I feel that our chapter could really grow if we had perspective from both male and female members.
Having been involved in SWE, I have had several amazing opportunities to meet people from all across the country who participate and support SWE. This year I was able to learn and experience what resources we have to raise funds. If elected again, I would like to be more proactive about planning events to raise money for the chapter so that more members can have the same experiences that I have by being able to attend national and regional conferences.

Treasurer Candidates
Savanna Kis

Hi everybody! My name is Savanna Kis and I am a sophomore Industrial Engineering major. I became involved with SWE my first semester at the University of Arkansas, so for 2 years now. SWE is the one organization I would say I am heavily involved in on campus, other than being an FEP peer mentor. I would like to become even more involved and provide more opportunities for you all by becoming an officer. Last spring I participated in swing for SWE (which I plan on being involved with again this year), and this past fall I attended nationals in LA! I really love SWE because it opens a whole new door for women in engineering by providing tons of professional development, networking, and having some awesome outreach opportunities as well.
I chose to run for treasurer because I feel like it would be some good “outside of class” experience with finances, seeing that I am an industrial engineering major. I am very thorough and organized in everything I do which is why I think I can be good at handling the finances for our organization.
Secondly, I chose to run for Vice President because I feel like I have strong communication skills, and I can publicize SWE to those who are involved, the campus, and even local companies for things such as fundraising events.
I would be more than happy to serve in either of these roles, and I’m looking forward to the reminder of this semester and upcoming years with you all in SWE!

Bailey Stinnett

Hello!
My name is Bailey Stinnett and I am a sophomore Biomedical Engineering Major from Siloam Springs, Arkansas. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, tennis, and basketball. I became a member of SWE the fall semester of my freshman year. The SWE chapter at the U of A has given me the opportunity to connect with my peers in a positive and welcoming way. I enjoy helping others and interacting with others in various engineering fields. A leadership position in SWE would give me the opportunity to further serve a wider range of people. I would love to introduce younger students to STEM fields in a fun and encouraging way. This semester, I have enjoyed serving as a literacy mentor to students at an elementary school in Fayetteville. Next year, I would like to serve as a STEM mentor through the SWE’s Outreach opportunities. If elected as Outreach Chair, I would enjoy educating younger girls and opening their eyes to engineering or other STEM fields. My hard-working, detail-orientated, and reliable self would be a great fit for the Outreach Chair or Treasurer positions.

Alexa Koenigseder*

Hey Everyone!
My name is Alexa Koenigseder and I am a Junior Industrial Engineering Major. I have been a part of SWE since my freshman year. This year I would love the opportunity to get more involved and hold a leadership position within SWE. I enjoy helping others find out why engineering and what type of engineering fits them. This is why I became a recruiter for the College of Engineering here on campus. This position has helped me share my interests with other students and provide leadership to young children. There are so many great opportunities within the field. I also volunteer weekly helping 1st graders with math, reading, and English at a local elementary. As treasurer or secretary, I would be organized, efficient, and timely. I know how to communicate with others well and would love the experience. I have enjoyed the relationships I have made through SWE and I can’t wait to get more involved!

Secretary Candidates
Blandine Kemayou*

Coming from Cameroon, I am one of the few female graduate student from Africa in the Civil Engineering Department. I was granted the Fulbright scholarship in 2014 in Cameroon to pursue my master degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas. My Goal is to share and learn. Share my culture and how we woman in Africa break all the barriers faced by women in Engineering and get involved in our community; learn from the SWE how incorporate and adapt any skills learn from here in my country. My long term Goal is to create a Civil Engineering Company in Cameroon directed by women and in which we will mentor and encourage girl to join engineering major. Africa suffers a lot from girls dropping out from school and having no goal besides depending on men. This position will give me experience in organizing any activity, how to write a professional report of those activity and help me to achieve my above mentioned future goal. Helping Africa is not only give money and food to its population, but also train their people so that without you they can grow up. “The better way to help somebody who is hungry is not to give him/her fish, but to teach him/her how to fish! “If you want to help Africa in a certain way, just elected my at the SWE officer position. Don’t be guide by the fact that you don’t know me or have never seen me, but by the kind and good person in you who just want to help others.
Alex Schussler*

Hi everyone!
My name is Alex Schussler. I am a sophomore majoring in Industrial Engineering. I started getting involved with SWE the fall of my freshman year and have tried my best to be as involved as I can be. I have loved getting the opportunity to volunteer more at the Boys and Girls club this year and cannot wait to do more.
There are a couple of reasons why I feel like I would be a good fit for the secretary position. Previously, I held the secretary position for my chapter of National Charity League for two years where I attended every meeting, took down minutes, and kept the chapter organized and connected through email. Like many of us are, I am well organized and time oriented. I will make sure everyone is kept well informed and up to date with everything.
I cannot wait to get more involved in SWE whether I am elected to this position or not. Thank you for your consideration!

Abe Adedoyin

I’m Abe Adedoyin, an international freshman from Nigeria. My major is Mechanical engineering, a major with even fewer women than most engineering disciplines. Therefore, I value very greatly the resource and community that SWE provides.
I really love SWE and am looking forward to the opportunity to serve in this organization. Running for Vice President (my first choice) and Secretary (my second choice) is the perfect opportunity to give back and serve other students. I had a wonderful experience getting to know SWE members and programs and I would very much like to recreate this experience for new members next year.
One of the most attractive features of SWE is that it provides a medium to interact with professional women from all engineering disciplines. My contact with these women at a meeting provided great insight into the working world, like how my courses will be applied in the workplace. I would love to have increased contact between students and the female professionals each semester. As an officer, I would have the opportunity to facilitate this.
Although I’m a fairly new member, SWE has become an integral part of my college experience. I look forward to meetings and mentoring sessions on Thursdays. I ask for this opportunity to serve in a bigger capacity at SWE. I am committed to work towards upholding the values and achieving the goals of our organization. In my spare time, I climb trees, collect old currency, and belly dance!

Karla Castro

My name is Karla Castro and I am currently a freshman working towards a major in Industrial Engineering, and also becoming more involved in the engineering world here at the UofA. SWE is definitely the ideal place to do so because it has provided me with experiences that I would have not been able to find anywhere else. Ever since I began attending meetings and volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club, it did not take me long to realize that SWE is the where I plan to grow as an engineer.
I would love to take advantage of this opportunity to give back to this welcoming society by serving as a Treasurer or a Secretary. Both of these positions demand a lot of attention to detail, organization, and an ability to communicate effectively with others, which so happen to be the top three things I like to do when it comes to work. On the other hand, when it comes to non-work related activities, I enjoy reading, playing tennis, and riding my bicycle around campus. It would be an honor to become a bigger part of this awesome society by committing myself to assist you.

Public Relations Candidates
Whitney Gall*

Hi everybody!
My name is Whitney Gall and I am a Junior Industrial Engineering major (and math minor) from Rogers, Arkansas. I joined SWE my freshman year and am using this opportunity to get more involved. SWE has become my main extracurricular activity on campus as it is the best opportunity to meet other female engineers and socialize with other engineering disciplines. I really enjoy all the activities and volunteer opportunities SWE has been providing and it would be wonderful to get to help organize existing or create new ones! Professional development is fantastic for learning more about the workforce and leaving school, while the volunteer opportunities promote community involvement. I look forward to participating in many events to come!
I am the oldest of four and like animals (dog person!), crafting and fiction. I will be studying abroad this summer (Italy! Can’t wait!). I currently work at the Pinnacle Mall, babysit and volunteer at annual SVDP school library events. I absolutely love the really busy days when there’s a steady flow of people!

Peyton Evans

Hi! My name is Peyton Evans, and I am majoring in chemical engineering. I have always loved helping others achieve their goals and find their passions. I would love to promote SWE and get more girls involved in STEM majors because there is a severe lack of us women to compete with the men! I think I would be a great candidate because I am very hard working and driven to complete my goals. An example of this is shown by my high school curriculum. When I was in high school, I was an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate, which is a fancy way of saying a took a bunch of hard classes and had to write two really big papers and I got an extra diploma from an international organization that my school was a part of. It is a two year program that requires a lot of hard work and dedication, and I learned so much about time management and seeing things through until the end. I received my diploma, which was a huge success for me.
A little about me: I am married, and my husband is majoring in Industrial Engineering. We have a dog, and she is like my child. She is an all-black German shepherd and is the best cuddler there is. I love reading and taking Agera on hikes. I am also pretty nerdy (aren’t we all?) because I love video games and researching the latest science news.

America Sotero

My name is America and I am a sophomore biological engineering major from Bentonville, Arkansas. I am a bookworm but I also enjoy watching movies and volunteering. Recently, I have been trying to watch all ten seasons of Friends (I’m almost halfway through) and discovered that Ross can be jerk. I am a huge superhero cartoon and movie fan, as well.
I joined SWE last semester; however, due to work schedule conflicts and homework I was not able to participate as much as I wanted. While I have been able to attend more events and meetings this semester, I want to be more than a passive member. SWE is an amazing RSO dedicated to empowering women engineers and building a network of support for us.
I think that I would be a good fit as Outreach chair because I love working with kids and teaching. Outreach is a fantastic program and I would like to expand it. This could include introducing kids to the different engineering disciplines and what each can do, having a science fair competition, and bringing them to campus to show them some of the technology we use.

Bailey Stinnett*
